Our Commitment

PhotoRaters is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and constructive environment for all users. We employ advanced AI-powered moderation systems combined with community reporting to ensure content meets our guidelines.

1. AI-Powered Automated Moderation

1.1 How It Works

Every photo uploaded to PhotoRaters is automatically analyzed by our AI moderation system before it's shown to any users. This happens in real-time and takes only seconds.

1.2 What We Detect

Our AI system screens for:

  • Nudity and Sexual Content: Explicit nudity, sexual acts, or sexually suggestive content
  • Violence and Gore: Graphic violence, blood, weapons, or disturbing imagery
  • Hate Symbols: Nazi imagery, hate group symbols, or extremist content
  • Drugs and Paraphernalia: Illegal drugs, drug use, or drug-related items
  • Minors: Images containing individuals who appear to be under 18
  • Personal Information: Visible credit cards, IDs, or sensitive documents
  • Low Quality: Blurry, dark, or unratable images

1.3 Rejection Process

Photos flagged by our AI are immediately rejected with a clear explanation. Users can upload a different photo that complies with our guidelines.

2. Community Guidelines

2.1 Acceptable Content

Photos should be:

  • ✅ Clear, well-lit portrait or full-body photos
  • ✅ Photos you have permission to upload
  • ✅ Photos where subjects appear to be 18 or older
  • ✅ Appropriate for a professional or dating context
  • ✅ Free of misleading filters or heavy editing (for accurate feedback)

2.2 Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited:

  • ❌ Nudity, underwear photos, or sexually suggestive poses
  • ❌ Photos of minors (anyone under 18 years old)
  • ❌ Photos uploaded without subject's consent
  • ❌ Violence, weapons, or threatening imagery
  • ❌ Hate speech, discriminatory symbols, or extremist content
  • ❌ Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia
  • ❌ Copyrighted material (celebrity photos, artwork, etc.)
  • ❌ QR codes, URLs, or promotional content
  • ❌ Text overlays with contact information or solicitation
  • ❌ Screenshots or low-quality images

3. Rating Conduct

3.1 Rating Guidelines

When rating photos, users should:

  • • Provide honest, constructive feedback
  • • Rate based on photo quality, presentation, and appropriateness
  • • Be respectful and considerate
  • • Rate fairly without bias based on race, gender, or other protected characteristics

3.2 Prohibited Rating Behavior

  • ❌ Giving all 1s or all 10s (fraud detection will flag this)
  • ❌ Rating too quickly without viewing photos
  • ❌ Creating multiple accounts to manipulate ratings
  • ❌ Coordinating with others to boost or tank ratings

4. User Reporting

4.1 How to Report

While our AI catches most violations, users can report content that slips through:

  • • Tap the report button on any photo
  • • Select the reason for reporting
  • • Submit (reporting is anonymous)

4.2 What Happens Next

Reported content is immediately hidden from circulation and reviewed. If violations are confirmed, the content is permanently removed and the uploader may face penalties.

5. Enforcement and Penalties

5.1 Warning System

Violations result in:

  • First Violation: Warning and content removal
  • Second Violation: Temporary suspension (7 days) and score reduction
  • Third Violation: Permanent account termination

5.2 Immediate Termination

Certain violations result in immediate permanent ban without warning:

  • • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • • Extreme violence or terrorism
  • • Coordinated fraud or manipulation
  • • Harassment or doxxing

6. Appeals Process

6.1 If Your Photo Is Rejected

If you believe your photo was incorrectly flagged by our AI:

  • • Review the rejection reason carefully
  • • Ensure your photo complies with all guidelines
  • • Contact support@photoraters.com with your user ID and explanation
  • • Our team will manually review within 48 hours

6.2 Account Suspensions

To appeal a suspension or ban, email appeals@photoraters.com with your account details and explanation. Appeals are reviewed within 7 business days.

7. Limitations and Accuracy

7.1 AI Imperfection

While our AI moderation is highly accurate, no system is perfect:

  • • False Positives: Safe photos may occasionally be flagged (use appeals process)
  • • False Negatives: Some violations may slip through (use reporting)
  • • Edge Cases: AI may struggle with context or cultural differences

7.2 Continuous Improvement

We continuously improve our moderation systems based on reports, appeals, and new training data to increase accuracy and fairness.

8. Privacy and Data

Content moderation data is handled according to our Privacy Policy:

  • • Rejected photos are not stored or shared
  • • Reported content is reviewed only by authorized personnel or AI
  • • User reports are anonymous
  • • Moderation logs are kept for legal compliance

9. Legal Compliance

PhotoRaters complies with applicable laws including:

  • • Online Safety Act and child protection laws
  • • DMCA copyright takedown procedures
  • • Anti-discrimination and hate speech regulations
  • • Platform liability frameworks

We cooperate with law enforcement when legally required and report CSAM to NCMEC.
